River Capital Annual Investor Briefing 2026
River Capital held its annual Investor Briefing on the 13th August.
This year, we are celebrating River Capital’s 30th year. A lot has changed at River over the decades but our focus on the value of compounding of capital remains the same. Our Fund and SPV investments draw on River Capital’s 30 years of experience investing across market cycles. $1.00 invested across our Funds on 1 July 2022, the point at which we launched the Tuloona Fund and reset the Founders Fund, has returned $1.70 to investors. And a $1.00 invested for the same period across all SPVs is currently valued at $1.94.
This year our Embedded Network Trustinvestors enjoyed the exit from Lightning Broadband with $2.07 returned toinvestors, and we used all we have learnt as investors in The Cheesecake Shopin buying a material stake in YOMG (Bite Trust).
We believe that investing into a handful of businesses we know well, be it through our concentrated Founders Fund and Tuloona Fund or into a company through our Strategic Investments (SPVs), may lead to short term volatility, but will provide out-performance and reduced risk over the medium term.
Particularly in uncertain times we are confident that the valuation expertise of the River team, provides us with an opportunity to apply a private-market lens to all investments, listed and unlisted – uncovering intrinsic value often overlooked or misunderstood by the market.
And with over 25% of funds invested belonging to River Principals, Investment Committee and team, there is a strong alignment between the River Capital and our co-investors. We have the conviction and accountability to run a long-term concentrated strategy built on independent thinking.
The sessions on the day included two interactive panel discussions. The first featured Barry Carp, Akshay Chopra and Josh Ludski, who discussed FY26 performance across our Listed Equity Funds and Strategic Investments. The second brought together Tony Robinson, Chair of the River Capital Board, and Tim Poole, a member of the River Capital Investment Committee, who shared insights from their extensive experience investing across numerous industries and market segments.
