The Founders Fund brings three decades of expertise around businesses Barry Carp and the team have followed deeply into a concentrated portfolio of around 15 listed companies.
The Founders Fund seeks to share in the economics of owning great businesses over a meaningful period, reinvesting proceeds and compounding our capital along the way. The Fund invests into high quality businesses that will deliver our target returns either through a doubling of their profits over the next five years, or because we are buying the company’s assets or cashflows cheaply. Central to our approach are the relationships we build with management teams and boards, which both strengthen our conviction and provide inspiration for new investment ideas.
The Fund is designed to deliver, on average, 12% per annum net of fees over any 5 period with an annual distribution expected most years. Subscriptions are accepted monthly with redemptions provided for quarterly with 45 days notice. The Fund also benefits from the collective wisdom of our Investment Committee, whose insights support our investment process.

Mispriced & compounding value
The Founders Fund will also own companies with more moderate growth outlooks when we can purchase their assets or cashflows cheaply.

Meet the
Founders Fund team.
Our Listed Equities team for the Founders Fund is led by Barry Carp, with leading Australian investors contributing through the River Capital Investment Committee. Over 25% of the funds invested are those of River Principals, Investment Committee and the broader River team.
Barry’s investment philosophy is based on curiosity, humility, and being open to new opportunities. He has a great appreciation for the way in which River Capital has evolved and appreciates that our relationship with our investors is one of the one of cornerstones of our success. Barry is the current President of the Collingwood Football Club and Chairs their Finance Committee. Barry’s passion is investing in great people and businesses globally.
Akshay is the Portfolio Manager of the River Capital’s Listed Equities team. With 15 years at Karara Capital, he managed funds for institutional and retail clients. Akshay holds a Bachelor’s in Business Banking & Finance and Postgraduate studies in Applied Finance, with a strong passion for investing.
Hung works in the River Capital Listed Equities team and has over 25 years’ experience across funds management, trading, and actuarial consulting. He has worked across both the credit and equity markets over his career.
Rupert works in the River Capital Listed Equities team as an Investment Analyst covering REITs/building materials/retail/infrastructure companies. He previously worked at Judo Bank while finishing his Postgraduate Degree in Finance at Monash University.

The Founders Fund is open to Wholesale Investors. Our minimum initial investment is $250,000.
The Fund expects to pay an annual distribution in June in most years.
Investments are accepted for the start of each month.
The Founders Fund offers redemptions quarterly. 45 days' notice is required.
The Founders Fund unit price is calculated on a daily basis which can be viewed via the Investor Portal.
